Breaking News: Alexey Vermeulen Secures Career-Long Partnership with ENVE! This is huge news for the US gravel racer, signaling a significant commitment from ENVE components that will extend throughout his professional racing career and beyond. It's a testament to Vermeulen's talent and the strong partnership he's cultivated.
Vermeulen, who is gearing up for the 2026 season opener at RADL GRVL in Australia, just landed what could be his biggest win of the year – a contract extension with ENVE. This deal not only ensures continued support for his racing endeavors but also includes a post-career role in athlete development.
The discussions for the new contract began months before Vermeulen's 31st birthday in December. ENVE has been his primary gravel sponsor since 2021, providing his bike, wheels, and other components. This partnership began when Vermeulen transitioned from road racing to off-road racing, a move that quickly proved successful, with a top 20 finish at the Unbound Gravel 200 in his first year.
But here's where it gets interesting: Vermeulen hints at a future beyond racing, focusing on athlete development. He mentions a forthcoming announcement in March, emphasizing his passion for nurturing young talent.
"At a young age, because I left the road early, I feel like I had a good finger on the pulse for what it means to be 23 and fighting for a contract, or 25 and trying to break into it," he says. He acknowledges the changing landscape of gravel racing, where seasoned riders like Keegan, Matt Beers, and Russell Finsterwald, all in their 30s, are paving the way for the next generation. This shift excites Vermeulen, who is eager to contribute to the growth of the sport by mentoring young athletes, even as young as 18 years old.
Vermeulen is set to compete in the RADL GRVL p/b Quad Lock in McLaren Vale, Australia, on January 23rd. Although he's visited Australia numerous times, this will be his first bike race there since the Tour Down Under in 2017.
Following his Australian race, Vermeulen will return to the US to compete in The Mid South and Valley of Tears, as part of his preparation for his fifth Life Time Grand Prix. The opening round will be held on April 16th in Monterey, California, at the Sea Otter Classic.
