This Past Week in MMA History:
Looking back 18 years, Brock Lesnar made his much-anticipated UFC debut at UFC 81, only to be submitted by Frank Mir in under two minutes. In the main event of that night, "Big Nog" secured the UFC interim Heavyweight title by submitting Tim Sylvia. Furthermore, Jose Aldo successfully defended his UFC title for the fourth time at UFC 156 by defeating former Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. Also noteworthy was Alistair Overeem’s disappointing fight where he faced off against Antonio Silva, resulting in a knockout that cost him a shot at the Heavyweight title.
UFC 67: All or Nothing - Feb. 2, 2007
In the main event of UFC 67, Anderson Silva submitted Travis Lutter. This event also marked the UFC debuts of two PRIDE legends. Nick Diaz fought Carlos Condit for the interim Welterweight title at UFC 143, with Condit winning via unanimous decision, while Max Holloway experienced his first UFC bout, unfortunately losing to Dustin Poirier in the first round.
UFC 57: Liddell vs. Couture 3 - Feb. 4, 2006
At UFC 57, Chuck Liddell faced Randy Couture in a trilogy fight, decisively ending their rivalry with a knockout victory. One of the most memorable knockouts in UFC history occurred during UFC 126 when Anderson Silva delivered a stunning front kick to Vitor Belfort’s face. Alistair Overeem's final UFC appearance came against Alexander Volkov, where he was stopped in the second round. Additionally, at UFC Vegas 18, Cory Sandhagen knocked out Frankie Edgar with a spectacular flying knee.
