Pontian Crane Collapse: Two Dead, Three Injured in Tragic Accident (2026)

Two workers were killed and three others injured when a loading crane collapsed at a coal plant in Pontian, Malaysia. The incident occurred at a power plant on Jalan Tanjung Bin, Kukup, on December 13th at 1:01 PM. The Pontian Baru Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call, and the two fatalities, Muhammad Alfarid Ahmad and Muhammad Amaluddin Hisamudin, were identified as locals aged 19 and 22, respectively. The bodies were removed from beneath the debris at 3 PM and handed over to the police. Three other local male workers were injured and taken to Pontian Hospital. A total of 15 firefighters, including personnel from the Pekan Nenas Fire and Rescue Station, were deployed to the scene, assisted by Malakoff's Emergency Response Team. The collapse caused a small fire, which was extinguished. A witness reported hearing a loud sound at 12:15 PM when the crane structure suddenly failed and collapsed. Initial investigations found no evidence of criminal activity.
